on the Saturday night we had all gone to the pub for a hot meal and some cold beer. Needless to say myself and Mark decided to get totally tanked in order to endure the night ahead. At least if the tents were not there we'd be too pissed to get upset about it.
After a fantastic meal we ended up heading to The Arch Inn, handily located beside the campsite. Drank in there to closing time and staggered out the back door to the campsite. After finding the tents still there I realised Mark was missing. So I phoned him and he'd got lost! In Ullapool, I mean that's a good trick. So he turns up eventually and all is good. The nights sleep was ok, I got slightly wet as my tent turns out to be a single skin despite the brochure suggesting it was a two layer tent. Pah, but to be fair it wasn't too bad. Besides I was sleeping completely dressed lol so getting cold wasn't an option.
Anyways, in the morning we just shoved our tents into the cars and after getting cleaned up and washed headed off to the Hotel to meet the others for some fabby cooked breakfast. They were all amazed we made it looking so healthy and happy looking.
After breaky we trotted off to get the cars and then the drive started. After heading north for a few miles towards Lochinver we took a cut off for the coast road and ran down some lovely roads. Not fast at all for a couple of reasons. Weather was the usual damp / rain / dry / wet but the single track road wasn't the best for speed testing but when the scenery it like so, you don't care about speed.
What follows is a collection of pictures taken on the roads to Lochinver -> Durness then Tongue. Enjoy them, I had a ball driving these roads.
you see the beach sign and wonder what is going to be round the corner
still waiting
that's a beach alright
Just look at that road going into the distance
The trip was amazing, really really enjoyable despite the changing weather. The full catalogue of pics can be found on my website at IMOC run pictures. Awesome trip, will have to do that road again.
Take it easy out there folks
