funny old world -

dvr set up is complete, in my head at least. It's not so practical to start and stop the filming as my original choice of location gives no ventilation for the unit. Camera itself seems to work ok and the mic works too.

Oddly enough on playback the sound / video was out of sync so we'll need to see what the story is with that.

Waxed and polished the car earlier so that was a job well done (by my standards anyhow)

Sport cam left me negative feedback on Ebay as expected though what was a surprise was they said I had not paid. This is despite me having the usual Ebay receipt, Paypal receipt AND sport cams own receipt with the camera they sent (eventually) AND the automated receipt from Sport Cam when I actually paid for the camera. So it looks like I will have to sue Ebay and Sport Cam to get the lies removed. What fun

excellent news -

decided to get the mic and 12VDC power supply lead for the camera set up. Ordered from RF Concepts yesterday and the stuff arrived today. Awesome service. Big thumbs up.

So this weekend is trial fit of camera ( in cabin ) and DVR to the car then I'll try and wire the camera to the front bumper. Hello Bumper Cam!

Insurance details also updated so all good there. New windscreen ref given so just to phone up and get that sorted. Another 60quid down the pan but better than a face full of glass that's for sure.

british companies - pah useless gits they are

*********** Thanks sport-cam-uk - you're a bunch of tossers ***********

so I buy a bullet cam from a UK seller, listed as Private on Ebay but clearly a business. They stated next day send and next day Royal Mail Delivery. 7 days after winning the auction I get in touch with them through ebay mail as I can't read my registered email account through the corporate firewall. This is after phoning their listed number to which they don't answer.

Unknown to me the muppets respond the following day to my email address and DON'T include the ebay account. So when I get no response through ebay I phone them, no answer on the phone again. So i contact them again through ebay saying I need some answers or it's dispute time. I mean 7 days is too much for next day delivery and no contact. This time they respond to the ebay message, shout at me and accuse me of being difficult.

So I let rip with the facts, they don't answer their phone, they don't respond to the senders post and they didn't get in touch to say there was a delay. I asked for my money back. They have not been in touch since. So it's with Paypal dispute now but because I'm owed 50quid I can't go elsewhere and buy another camera.

*********** Thanks sport-cam-uk - you're a bunch of tossers ***********

new pc - ah the joys.

Indeed, every pc owner has gone through the pains of a new pc. Transfering files and settings is such a pain and that's before you get to the applications.

Now, don't get me wrong I used the settings wizard and it works fine. The files I did manually since they were a mess anyway and that also worked fine. The applications.... er not so good.

Turns out I have lost my macromedia 2004 disc which was not so clever. Zonealarm decided it didn't want to play so that also knackered play a bit. I found another setup, Sygate which seems to run ok so I'll run with that for a while. Macromedia, well I only really used that for the FTP side of things and I'm now using Classic FTP. Not quite so heavy on CPU cycles.

Ah the joys....

went for a drive -

as usual for this summer it was raining pretty much for the entire day. I still had fun driving along the country roads. Met up with the folks from the oc and had a very pleasant lunch. Drive back was good as no traffic along the Drymen road til the Carbeth Inn. I just bumbled along with the flow. No point in going daft at that part of the road anyway.
